BRIGHTER SMILE WITH PROFESSIONAL TEETH WHITENING AT SIERRA GATE FAMILY DENTAL IN ROSEVILLE, CA

Before we discuss whitening your teeth, it’s helpful to understand what causes dental discoloration. Some of the most common causes include:

  • The pigments in dark foods and beverages (coffee, tea, red wine, red pasta sauce)
  • The aging process naturally causes wearing to the enamel, revealing the yellow-colored dentin underneath
  • Genetics can contribute to darker teeth
  • Tetracycline medications at a young age can cause dark/stained teeth
  • Smoking and tobacco use can cause teeth to yellow and darken over time

Many patients come to us about professional teeth whitening after already trying a store-bought solution that produced lackluster results. Professional teeth whitening will give you the best results in a safe manner. The benefits of professional teeth whitening include:

  • Personalized treatment plans
  • Safe and effective treatment monitored by a dentist

If the cause of staining cannot be treated by teeth whitening, the dentist can recommend effective alternatives.

In-office whitening is the fastest way to brighten your smile, giving you results in just a single visit in 20 minutes. We Use Sinsational Smile fast and effective technology with patented pre-filled silicon trays. This allows the jaw to remain relaxed and the patient comfortable throughout the treatment. This procedure includes the use of an LED accelerating light that helps to activate the gel’s whitening ingredients at a faster rate, resulting in a brighter smile and whiter teeth in less time. As part of your procedure, you will receive a take-home maintenance pen to further extend your new brighter smile and enjoy the benefits of at-home bleaching as well. If you are interested in our in-office whitening program make sure to check our in-office whitening offers to take advantage of current specials.

Types of Professional Teeth Whitening

When opting for professional teeth whitening, patients can choose from two options: in-office and at-home teeth whitening. During your consultation, we’ll explain the process for both so you can choose the option that works best for you.

After teeth whitening treatment, you might experience sensitivity to hot or cold food and beverages, but this should subside within a couple days. Just like all dental procedures, routine dental examinations with Dr. Ardy Keshtkar are highly recommended and imperative to maintaining results. These exams will assess the entire mouth from gum and soft tissue health and the condition of each tooth. Once the main procedure is completed, we usually advise coming back for touch-ups a couple times a year, along with twice yearly cleanings that will help your dental health. Bear in mind that just because your teeth are white does not necessarily mean that they are healthy. That is why routine examinations are needed. You'll also be provided specific instructions regarding what food should and shouldn't be consumed immediately, including red wine and coffee.

How many treatments will you need?

The number of treatments necessary will vary based on your need and color preference. Ongoing whitening treatments are recommended on a scheduled basis to maintain and rejuvenate your smile. Though most people will notice a big difference after only one treatment, additional treatments may be necessary to achieve the sparkling white teeth you desire.

Who should consider teeth whitening?

Most people are good candidates for teeth whitening and do see substantial improvements in their teeth, even after one treatment. All whitening procedures work best on natural, healthy teeth and should not be used by people with poor oral health or anyone advised by their dentist not to have their teeth whitened.

Is teeth whitening safe?

Yes. Research has shown that when teeth are normal and healthy, there are no apparent adverse effects on the tooth’s enamel.

Will teeth whitening affect dental work?

This process will not whiten crowns, fillings, veneers, or other dental work. The process does not adversely affect these structures. We recommend whitening your teeth prior to major front teeth treatment to achieve the best possible tooth color match.

How long will the results last?

Whitening duration varies from person to person. Certain food and drink as well as other factors (i.e. tobacco, medications, age) can all affect the longevity of your results, especially if between visits you continue to use the maintenance pen. This easy-to-use pen can be used anywhere and takes only a few minutes to help you keep your teeth looking their whitest.

When is the best time to whiten your teeth?

It’s best to have your teeth whitened immediately after your teeth have been professionally cleaned.

Are there any side effects?

Only a small percentage of people may experience a slight tingling sensation during treatment. This subsides once the teeth are rinsed.

Does whitening work for everyone?

Teeth whitening is not effective on individuals with stained teeth as a result of certain medications (tetracycline stain), decalcification, or those born with grayish teeth. It is not recommended for pregnant or nursing women or children under 14.
